Review of Nomadland (2021) by Unclewillard — 19 Feb 2021
The movie continuously contradicts itself. It can't tell if it's a tragic look at people who have fallen out of society, or a spiritual awakening for people duped by the American dream. The characters talk about what a tight-knit community they are, full of independent people, but they also complain they are victims.
If the script had chosen one of those themes I think it would have worked better. It just thinks it's more poignant than it is. Oscar bait.
