Review of Nomad (2007) by Phil P — 25 Jan 2008
The movie tells the story of the Kazakh's attempt to get out from under the heal of some other nomadic, horse-riding, pilaging tribe. It aspires to be a grand epic, but never quite gets there. It also is too high-minded to let the viewer revel in gratuitous violence and cool sword fighting.
These movies either have to try for grand scale, or for hack'n'slash fun, and Nomad doesn't quite get to either point.
