Review of Noël (1992) by Anuczka P — 12 Oct 2008
Do you like fairy tales, especially at Christmas Eve? Do you believe in miracles? Do you wish your dreams would come true? Have you thought even at once of coming back to the most memorable place or event of your childhood? Are you waiting or hoping for happiness? Are you suffering of loneliness living in a big, big city? Are you sometimes tired of the way you live? Have you ever spent sleepless nights near your helpless mom dying of cancer in awful pain? Have you ever felt being sorry for not expressing on time your apologies to very close people that had gone forever? Are ready to assist someone in trouble?.
If you?re able to reply ?yes? to just one of these questions ? you?d like this film directed by Chazz Palmintery. What a talented guy he is! He gathered the necklace of brilliant actors ? Susan Sarandon, Penelope Cruz, Paul Walker, and, of course, Robin Williams ? who created wonderful set of stories about one day in lives of ordinary New Yorkers. A little bit of bitterness, a little bit of tiredness, a little bit of sadness ? it?s X-mas Eve in New York City. Nothing special ? different lives, different people occasionally met each other, but the feeling of a miracle is in the air. And despite these miracles evolve too rarely, maybe once a year, but they come at last. And it?s never late to change something in your life. Incredibly kind and light movie..
And you know what - last years I watched it many times on every Christmas and New Year Eve for no reason. As for no reason every year on the 31st of December I go with my family to the Bolshoi Theater for traditional night performance of ?Nutcracker?..
