Review of Nocturnal Animals (2016) by Tami S — 21 Dec 2016
I enjoyed Ford's noir take on the story. The movie is visually appealing as Ford stylishly creates two distinguishable worlds that draw on strong emotion and intrigue. The settings are brilliant to set the stage for the two worlds and the movie's score is perfect complement to each scene's mood.
The actors create believable characters where the audience truly feels empathetic, then a cheerleader for Jake Gyllenhaal's character, yet absolutely disgusted by Aaron Taylor Johnson and bewildered, then surprised by Michael Shannon's character.
All that said, the audience still has to fill in some big story gaps that for some, may decrease their appreciation of the movie, while others may be stirred up and excited to add their own twist. Overall, I enjoyed this film.
