Nocturnal Animals is a lovely looking film, so stylish and atmospheric. However, the story within a story conceit doesn't serve the narrative as well. The film poses itself as some kind of revenge thriller but doesn't allow itself to develop any suspense.
Amy Adams' character is completely sidelined as she simply has little to do but read a book. Ultimately the film is gorgeous on the outside but doesn't amount to much. Rating: 60.
