Review of Nobody Knows (2004) by Vincent B — 25 Dec 2008
Shot like a documentary, but seen through the eyes of four young kids, mostly the oldest being 12. The story was very sad and depressing like the movie. It was full of visual metaphors and subtleties, extremely well made and shot.
The acting, specifically by that older boy, was very good and realistic. After watching, I wasn't too affected by it. When reflecting, I realized how truly haunting this film was. I wont be forgetting it anytime soon.
But, it was WAY too long. Easily could have shaved a half hour. Also, it was kind of boring. I was enthralled by the film making, but only to a certain extent. An average movie goer would probably be bored to tears, so essentially, this movie is not for everyone.
But for those who would enjoy this type of film, it really is something special.
