Review of Nobody Knows (2004) by Samantha J — 13 Apr 2011
Orphans in Japan? Who would've known? (Or, who does know?) The movie is good at portraying the worsening situations realistically: their clothes get dirtier and more shredded, their hair gets longer and they look dirtier as they haven't showered.
Still the movie could use just a tiny pinch of believability. Wouldn't the landlord investigate the situation further... I guess the movie is commenting on the Japanese people's tendency to turn a blind eye to needy people.
For me the ending was as disconnecting as it was tragic.
