Review of Noah (2014) by Will K — 02 May 2015
Based on the Biblical story, Noah along with his wife Naameh (Jennifer Connelly), his sons Japheth (Leo McHugh Carroll), Ham (Logan Lerman) and Shem (Douglas Booth) and Shem's wife Ila (Emma Watson), takes on the deadweight of building the Ark of God just in time before God sends ceaseless rain on earth for 40 days and 40 nights.
Directed by Darren Aronofsky, this film was able to capture the rush of Noah's urgency to build the ark along with the end of mankind with immense euphoria.
The first half was very slow, with restlessness setting in and was just irritating. But the second half brought about immense action with unexpected turns of events.
This film had some added and pretty irrelevant twists which did become a botheration sporadically. The Cinematography by Matthew Libatique, too was not very amusing. It was also a bit disappointing to see how the costumes by Michael Wilkinson was not in accordance to the way I'd expect people of historical times to dress up.
Apart from this, everything in this film worked very well.
The Biblical story of Noah was invigorating, this film just adds on to that with a touch of elation.
