Review of Noah (2014) by Dietmar D — 16 Mar 2015
Not spectacularly great, not stumach turningly bad, Noah's take on the bible story makes some good decisions and some bad ones. The good involve the setting, abandoning history and just going with the setting the bible describes and being creative in the use of magic and events that take place. The acting is good and the CGI is good. Seeing Emma Watson in anything other than the Potter movies is still odd but she manages her part well. Russell Crowe plays himself as always.
The bad is the human antagonist - what drowning the world isn't dramatic enough? - and the events that take place on the boat after the flood, which made me cringe. Also... dat ending. Just no.
Overall, a good popcorn movie if you don't go in with high expectations.
