Review of Noah (2013) by Nathan B — 11 Dec 2014
First off let me say that I think a lot of people I know really misjudged this movie simply because of it being about a Biblical story, which in my opinion is ignorance at its finest.
Now for my review:
One of my favorite things about this movie is its beautiful selection of colors and creative editing. Just looking at the films images was one form of engagement for me.
I also like the 'realistic' way they told a biblical story which can be so easily made into somewhat of a fantasy in our minds just because it is an ancient Biblical story. The movie brought into light, the human nature behind the story of Noah, showing both what the Bible says about the story and ideas about what else occured during that time. The Bible doesn't go into much detail about Noah's feelings when he was on the arc and the actions and feelings of the rest of the world knowing that the flood was coming and they would not survive. I personally like the additions.
The only reason why I reduced my rating for the movie was because in the writer's attempt to make the story interesting, he took away pieces of what we know the Bible actually says happened.
Spoiler alert.
The whole part of the movie about Noah's children having wives, well, all of his children had wives and children. That is something that can not be debated.
