Review of No Way Out (1987) by Christian C — 05 Jul 2008
A remake of a 1940s Film Noir, THE BIG CLOCK, this film is set in the late Cold War era and involves an idealistic U.S. Naval officer (Kevin Costner), the mistress of a powerful politician (Sean Young), the powerful politician (Gene Hackmen in full sleaze mode), the politician's slimey aide-de-camp (Will Patton), and a highly place Soviet mole in the U.
S. intelligence network known as 'Yuri.' This film came out in the late summer of 1987 after the Iran/Contra Scandal had erupted in Washington. No one is what they seem and everyone has a secret in this film.
If you have never seen the film, I will not spoil the surprise and reveal who 'Yuri' is.
