Review of No Way Out (1987) by Dawn M — 12 Aug 2010
Less of a political thriller and more of a Washington noir. When a war hero comes home to his call girl girlfriend; her main John kills her. Her main John happens to be the hero's boss and the Secretrary Of Defense.
While the nation's resources are being used to find him, "the other guy"- he has to deflect the investigation until he can prove the Secretary is the killer. Costner and Hackman play their roles as worried mouse and totally overwhelmed cat, but the real hero is Will Patton.
An exacting, overtly loyal Nixon-esque assistant to the secretary. The ending is certainly not what we were expecting either.
