Review of No Way Out (1950) by Dave R — 08 Sep 2010
WOW - hard to believe they made this film in 1950! it deals so directly with racism - not even sure they could make a film like this now.
Widmark plays racist low life criminal ray biddle who blames his brother's death of the black doctor brooks- poitier - who treats them when they arrive at his hospital with gunshot wounds after a botched robbery. tensions rise in the city and a full fledged race riot breaks out. but ray wants revenge against dr. brooks and tries to get it.
Widmark and poitier are amazing in their roles and the story is certainly compelling and even topical 60 years later.
