Review of No Time to Die (2021) by Magikmice — 11 Oct 2021
I wish I liked this more. No Time To Die starts well, establishing good emotion. But, I was a fool to not realize that tone would derive this movie into monotony. Is this James Bond or The Notebook? Far too sappy and over the top. In its biggest moments, it tries to convey emotion expecting the audience to feel emotion, and I felt nothing. The soft romantic nature of the storytelling and too many characters we are supposed to care for overpowers the levity of what could've been an engrossing final act for Craig.
I loved the stuff in Cuba with Ana de Armas, who has more chemistry with Craig than any other woman in the movie. At times, No Time To Die offers the quaint subtlety of the older films, relying less on action and more on quirks and tension. Interestingly, I found the dialogue to have far too many 'impressionable' lines. Not every conversation requires wit. Pick your spots. That is where this movie fails.
