Review of No Time to Die (2021) by Xerostomia — 10 Oct 2021
I have seen every Bond movie, many times over. My 1st Bond movie I saw in the theater was Moonraker. I enjoy Bond for what it is, mindless action, gadgets, witty repertoire, car chase scenes, some sexism/machoism etc etc. For the most part this movie checks all the boxes. At the same time, this is the first Bond movie where I was actually bored. My wife tells me to get with the times, and Bond has to evolve to match society in the 21st century, and I try, but:
This is pretty much the first Bond movie, where the movie plot (who the villain is, and how the hell did he get all his resources to build his evil empire, etc) actually takes a back seat to his personnel life.
This movie is a chick flick love story, and not a Bond movie. It will get great reviews because of that (Bond showing that he is 'human', 'emotional' has a 'soft side' etc). Heck, should of realized what they were doing as the opening scene was almost a verbatim of the ending of Her majesties secret service......"we have all the time in the world"....
Oh well, Bond went out with a fizzle not a bang.
