Review of No Strings Attached (2011) by Gwénolé V — 30 Aug 2011
After all the bad reviews I didn't expected to see something any good. Moreover, "Your Highness" proved to me that Natalie Portman plays not only in great movies but in quite bad ones as well.
Still, in the end, I can't say that "No Strings Attached" is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The biggest problem which, unfortunately, ruins whole movie, is a story, as long as authors never seem to understand what they want to tell the audience.
Everything starts quite promising, although first 10 minutes clearly look pretty much like the other movie with Ashton Kutcher, "A Lot Like Love". But after these "destiny" episodes movie goes into completely different direction and tries to tell us the story about love/sex/friendship. It could have been ok if some characters didn't appeared on the screen at all, but when some of them sort of start own story, but after few episodes just disappear forever, well, you got the point, there's no way you can like it. (Just to be fair, in the end we see all these characters again but only behind the final titles).
So clearly, not every author can make something out of ideas which were taken from different movies, still, if you want to see something "oversweet" and messy - No Strings Attached will be your perfect choice.
