Review of No Strings Attached (2011) by Rachel S — 12 Oct 2011
This film is an okay rom-com. Much of the humor here is not my taste, but I do like Natalie and Ashton together, actually, and there are a few laughs to be had. I like the height difference between the two leads, we don't see it on screen a lot and there is even an okay joke or two about it.
Note to other directors: cast this height difference more often! It's also crzy to see Kevin Kline and Cary Elwes here! The problem I have is with the basic premise. Men are dreaming if they think most women want an emotion-free sexual relationship.
Just because films dress it up with a happy ending doesn't mean men actually want that ending and poor women go along with it hoping the guy will fall in love with them. The premise is just not relatable to my experience.
Otherwise, it's a passable comedy.
