Review of No Strings Attached (2011) by Kay J — 20 Feb 2012

I enjoy a good romcom but No Strings Attached is so tasteless, boring, unadventurous and flat out annoying that it made me want to puke. I was *aching* for it to do something different, ANYTHING that hadn't already been plotted out in my head five seconds after reading the synopsis - and believe me, there was plenty of opportunity to do so - but no, it just delivers the same old shit we've seen a million times before, culminating in an ending so sickeningly stock that it literally had me hurling abuse at the screen. Oh, you think I'm kidding? You're SO fucking wrong! It doesn't help that the two leads (Natalie Portman & Ashton Kutcher) are so unlikable - something of a cardinal sin in a romcom! How am I supposed to root for them when she's a toxic bitch and he's, well, Ashton Kutcher? There are a couple of funny lines ("I'm single as fuck!") but that's it, I mean that is IT, as far as positives go.

*Sigh* This really could have been so much more...
