Review of No Reservations (2007) by Sam R — 23 May 2009
Lovely romance. Forgettable though :).
----.
SECOND VIEWING: Ok, so I just watched it for the second time (as my wife wanted to see it). And I have to add more to my one line review here above written after the first viewing.
Maybe I simply don't like Catherine Zeta-Jones, as no film where she has been the main lead has appealed to me. This romance was so by the book, that if it wouldn't have been for Aaron's charm, and Abigail's amazing acting talent, no one would have watched it.
It danced a dangerous samba around comedy and drama, never doing either well enough to actually make you laugh or cry. Nor did you feel very much for the main characters, not caring that much for their fates.
But it is well filmed and at 1-2 times (as when Aaron makes spaghetti for Abigail) you see a glimpse of what it could have been with a better script and a different female lead.
