Review of No Reservations (2007) by Chris D — 07 Aug 2012
The next time I see half an hour of a movie in the 'Cardio Cinema" room at the gym, and think I want to know how it turns out, remind me of this.
Granted, I am not a "chick flick" kind of girl, but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! CZJ is a type-A, hardass lady chef who becomes the guardian of her orphaned niece. Meanwhile, the expensively highlighted, floppy-haired Aaron Eckhart is the sous chef who plays music while he cooks, flirts, and usurps "her" kitchen until of course CZJ has no choice but to fall in love.
So many cliches, and trite moments. Of course he drives a pickup truck; of course there is a pillow fight in which a few feathers fly about; Aaron Eckhart at one point says, "You know, it's okay to let people in." There are a few bits of manufactured drama to pad things out, the usual fighting/making up/crisis brings the separated lovers together.
If this is your kind of dealie, by all means enjoy. It's full of good actors and pretty apartments and food porn. As for me, I'll stick to my own kind from now on.
