Review of No One Lives (2013) by Crystal — 16 May 2013
This is a very good-looking B thriller/gore-fest. The film has a campy feel. Many of the characters are well over-drawn. While there is a lot of mayhem; it doesn't shock, because it does not look, nor feel real. It was fun from a cartoon, action thriller, point-of-view. The cinematography was very good. From the title, we know where the story is going. It unfolds in a pretty engaging manner. This is not great cinema. But, it was fun; in a gruesome sort of way.
Emma (Adelaide Clemens) is a dead ringer for Michelle Williams. She is a kidnapped woman. She was very good in one of the better roles. Everyone else was OK, to pretty good. Our psychopathic killer could have been more menacing; Driver (Luke Evans). He was too matter-of-fact, and business-like.
With the right frame of mind, if blood and guts can be seen as entertainment; this movie might be worth a look.
