Reeker was an interesting horror which had enough clever ideas to make it rise above the average slasher film, therefore I was pretty happy to learn that the film had a sequel/prequel? on the way.

No Man's Land is interesting in that it explains the origins of the reeker, making the creature itself all the more terrifying. This is not to say that its a scary film because sadly it isnt. There are a few good 'makes you jump' moments but nothing which will actually scare you which is a shame.

However, what the film does right is expanding on the ideas of the original, which it does in an entertaining and occasionally comic fashion. The cliched genre rules of why the victims can not escape (No car/No phone signal etc...) do not apply here as a much more interesting and comical idea for keeping them contained is applied.

After the opening flashback to the creation of the reeker and the films inciting incident the film does seem to drag for a while as the victims aimlessly wander around trying to figure out whats going on. However, this changes when they realise they cannot physically escape and the reeker begins to pick off the people one by one in the good old slasher movie style.

One thing that could really put people off this film is the fact that the ending twist is essentially the same as in the first Reeker. This didnt really bother me as it was once again well done and explained better than in the first film.

Overall im being generous withl No Man's Land, theres nothing really special about it if youve seen the first Reeker which is better, but its still an entertaining horror film with a few really good ideas.

+ Reeker's origins explained.

+ Like the original the concept is brilliant.

+ Well explained and clever twist.

+ Interesting new ideas.

- Drags a bit after the opening.

- Pretty much the same as the first.

- Not gory enough :P.

Verdict: If you like the first one then this will probably satisfy you, just dont expect that many changes plot wise.
