Review of No Holds Barred (1952) by Kelly T — 04 Dec 2007
This is Hulk Hogan's best acting job-which, considering that this is first major role beyond the squared circle, says a whole lot about the rest of his movies-and none of it any good. He's basically playing himself in this movie. The story is pure fodder-it's basically a "good vs. evil" scenario.
I remember watching the old WWE shows on Saturday mornings and listening to Gorilla Monsoon shill this movie-in fact, on one episode, he said something to the effect of "they're talking Oscars for No Holds Barred!" which meant that it was going to suck out loud. For the most part, it did.
I haven't watched any of Hulk's other films-although I did manage to watch a couple of episodes of his TV show "Thunder in Paradise" which had all of the excitement of Army food.
3 stars because it isn't bad enough for me-it's mostly dull.
