Review of No Escape (2015) by Greg B — 30 Aug 2015
"No Escape" stars Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, and Pierce Brosnan as three foreigners caught in a civil war in an East Asian country akin to Cambodia. Wilson is a contractor for an American utilities company trying to network in the Far East.
He and his family are forcibly relocated to an undisclosed country after Wilson's small business goes belly-up. After rebels kill the prime minister, they turn on all the Americans, and Wilson and his family are forced to try and flee for the Vietnamese border.
This was a very suspenseful and gripping film. Though the plot is highly far fetched, I found the movie engrossing and captivating. It is nice to see Owen Wilson in a dramatic role, and he transitions from comedy pretty well.
He is a strong lead. This movie borders on popcorn fodder but has just enough kick to be a good escape ------------------------------------ B.
