Review of No Country for Old Men (2007) by Brandon W — 10 Feb 2016
I remember seeing No Country for Old Men as the Coen Brothers's darkest film, and that I was very confused about a lot of things that happened. Seeing this again, No Country for Old Men is still a fantastic movie that is unlike the past films that the Coen Brothers directed and written.
Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin are amazing in this, and Javier Bardem in his first acting career that's American is one of the best parts of the film. The film doesn't have music until the post credits which was a bold and risky move, but it fits in with the emptiness and dark of the tone.
The writing is really great and they created some subtle humor into it that's really funny. The characters are very three-dimensional in this, and the villain is very memorable and terrifying in this.
It's very interesting, and the gunfire action is exciting to watch. The plot is really great, and it shows about how much of a chain reaction it leads to. No Country for Old Men is just as masterfully well done as the directors's other films that shows that they can do other genres.
