Review of No Country for Old Men (2007) by Raphael Georg K — 07 Apr 2013
"When a rat eats the cheese he gets fat, when he get fat he becomes a prey to the cat because the cat loves the rat fatness and begins to chase him doing the imaginable to get him; during this chase the old dog sees the situation and begins to chase the cat because it is his great rival, and in some way help the rat because it has nothing against him, making a kind of justice". That's "No Country for old men" with humans and a western of nowadays.
The film from start to finish hooks you and not let go until the final credits appear, is a thriller that blends breathtaking western; crime; terror; pure thriller; and a violent chase of cat and rat with a dog. The Coen brothers were really loyal to the work of Cormac McCarthy, as both the wild landscape that builds the film and its incredible characters.
The story begins with Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin), a former Vietnam veteran, finds a briefcase with 2 million dollars at a crime scene. Suddenly sees himself being hunted by pure evil that is the character Anton Chigurh (Javier Barden), a violent persecution ranging from Texas to the Mexican border. And just behind them, the sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) in the hunt for Anton and somehow protect Llewelyn. Most intriguing in this persecution is that the three characters never interact, just the chase between them that increases every second.
The cast is perfect, both Tommy and Josh are perfect, but Javier is FANTASTIC in every detail, her character is so evil and cruel and at the same time very intriguing. He is the wild cat that wants the fatness-the money from Josh Brolin, and Tommy Lee of old dog that wants to do "justice".
The Coen brothers are overcome by delivering a film written and performed in a fantastic way, a story that delivers a chase full of insane terror, thriller and a modern Western.
