Review of No Country for Old Men (2007) by Indie F — 10 Oct 2018
Cormac McCarthy (who authored the novel that the film is based upon) seems to really romanticize the "old world." An obvious lover of the wild west, his stories all seem to focus on how fucked up the modern world is, and how better off we were decades ago before things got so complicated. Before conscience escaped mankind and we began treating one another like dogs.
The Coen Bros' telling of the tale certainly does McCarthy's story justice. It is bleak and horrifying, and justice remains a silly notion that has no place in the modern world.
