Review of Nixon (1995) by Skyler W — 16 Feb 2009
After watching Ron Howard's 'Frost/Nixon' I decided that I wanted to learn more about our 37th President, and what a better way to do so than to watch a three and a half hour Director's Cut of Oliver Stone's 'Nixon,'--Right? To be honest, this is not a bad film, and at times shines with flashbacks, great acting, and multiple characters that are really well done and interesting.
For me this was a multiple sitting film. To sit and watch nearly 3 1/2 hours of a political film is something most people these days just aren't into. I have to say that I really liked the flashbacks, but I felt like Stone might have made Nixon about to be a full blown lunatic.
I didn't like that. All in all this is an interesting film, but it may just be too long and slow.
