Great anime from Yoshiaki Kawajiri. As always, watch the original Japanese dub as the Mifune-esque gruffness to Jubei's voice evokes memories of a similar scruffy, maverick sword wielding wanderer, Tsubiaki Sanjuro.
Extremely gory without being needlessly so, a tour de force of Japanese myth and folklore combined with all that is great about the anime genre. Watch it.
