Review of Ninja Scroll (1993) by Alex V — 08 Jun 2010
The whole japanese manga genre is one that I have alwase been interested in, but one I don't often get to experience. Seeing this little jem on sale for 10 bucks I just couldent help myself. I picked it up as well as "Street Fighter 2: The animated movie". Anywase here is a short review..
Jubei is a ninja wandering from town to town offering his ninja services to whoever needs them. He comes across some old guy who poisents him and refuses to give him the antidote unless he kills the leaders of the Shadow Clan. The head honcho there just so happens to be the same guy that Jubei beheaded a couple years back. If your wondering how he survived getting his hed chopped off, well he has mastered the art of reanimation.... Anywase Jubei faces off againced the leaders of the Shadow Clan one by one, Kill Bill style. The fights are exilerating and brutal. Every one of those bad guys have thier own creative skills, too. Theres a guy who can turn his skin to stone, a women who's snakey tatoo's come to life, a ninja who can melt into the shadows etc. The action is broken up by short segments of talking that usually doesent last more then 5 minutes or so. In this case, thats a good thing, becuase the action really does make the movie.
