Ninjas told me to at least give this movie 3 stars... or else! But jokes aside, this movie could be great if they cut down on the flashbacks and actually showed some martial arts instead of relying too much on special effects.
His training sessions seemed more interesting than the fighting sessions. Furthermore, much of the choreography happened at night where all you see are the flickering lights of samurai swords. While that seems poetic and cool (see any Anime series with Samurais or Ninjas), it didn't show the viewer anything new.
After the blood and bullets, you get a movie that you can watch when you're trying to forget about the day at work.
