Review of Nine Queens (2000) by Snigdh J — 29 Apr 2011

Con movies always run into the danger of being predictable ironically due to the very knowledge the viewer has that it's a con movie. What "Nine Queens" ensures is a ride that is special in it's own ways irrespective of the twists that may or may not appeal to you. As it scours the con game to it's vilest details that makes you flinch and still keeps finding you searching for that one moral "humane" tilt to the character, you know it has already won u over and climax can only be icing on the cake, which it is, in fact more than that!!..

Can't leave this review without putting a word for Ricardo Darin...He is absolutely outstanding. As smone who embodies everything reprehensible abt con games he leaves an indelible mark on film.
