Review of Nine Lives (2016) by Dan H — 02 Nov 2016
Starring Cat-vin Spacey. Ruthless, egotistical CEO Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) has been neglecting his family for too long. When he buys his daughter a cat from Purrkins' Cat Store (owned by Felix Purkins, played here by Christopher Walken) for her birthday, Tom inexplicably finds himself trapped in the body of the cat.
With only a limited amount of time to right his wrongs, lest he stay trapped as a cat forever, it's up to Tom to prove that not only can he make a good cat....but that he can make a good husband and dad as well.
Expect a lot of annoying fake cat noises, a good deal of boardroom meetings and business talk, lots of fake cat CGI, and silly, unrealistic cat hijinx. Christopher Walken and Kevin Spacey are actually trying here.
Both are entertaining, and Spacey shows he can actually be a pretty good voice-over actor. Unfortunately, not even these two's combined talents can save what is a fairly dull, boring and uninspired film.
It still hurts that the director of MIB made this crap.
