Review of Nine Lives (2016) by Jay A — 07 Jul 2017
I'm used to seeing movies that my kids love, only to see they get terrible reviews here, so it's no surprise to see the reviews Nine Lives gets. To the people who hate it - what exactly were you expecting from a movie where Kevin Spacey plays a Trump wannabe and is reincarnated as a cat? Shakespeare? David Mamet? Perhaps you just aren't the target audience.
We watched it with our young sons, and they paid attention the entire time and thought iit was hilarious. We thought it was silly, obviously, but cute. Even more important, it was mercifully free of the "messages" that Disney seems intent on ruining their child fare with.
No "let's all believe in the power of belief", no pushing of an agenda many parents find objectionable in a "aren't we so naughty" way, and no "nudge nudge wink wink" at the parents to show how hip the filmmakers are.
This is a family film, aimed at kids, and it totally hits the mark. Plus, Christopher Walken .
