Review of Nine (2009) by Jesse Y — 07 Jan 2011
Rob Marshall returns to direct yet another musical film, after Chicago from 2002, which one the Oscar for Best Picture as well as many others in different catagories. Nine isn't a musical, it's just a re-mix of the Broadway musical loosely based from Fellini's 1963 film 8 1/2.
Despite the poor choice of actor's, both Academy Award Winners Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard committed themselves so fully to their roles as Cruz playing, Daniel Day-Lewis' sexy yet elegant mistress and Cotillard as his patient yet supportive wife and singing from their hearts.
They both have bent their roles as Carla Albanelse and Luisa Contini to their wills.
