Review of Nine (2009) by Pooja A — 19 Jul 2010
Strong performances all 'round, but it's Marion Cotillard as the tortured wife that steals the show (or perhaps that's the one that hits the closest to home). It had a handful of great songs, a couple good ones, and some that I've already forgotten.
The film's ultimate failing is the wandering storyline, a flimsy narrative that serves as an excuse for nine women to sing their songs. It could have been a lot more -- but in the end, it wasn't.
But even what it is, I like. I just wish it was more.
