I'm not usually one who finds himself sitting down for a musical, to be honest, not counting Disney movies. This intrigued me for some reason - I've always been a fan of Daniel Day-Lewis. This definitely had a very interesting flavor to it, it did such a good job of, as my favorite piece from the movie declares, being Italian.

I was really impressed with EVERYONE in this film, and that's saying something. I really liked the imaginative numbers and stunning visuals - every single one was brilliantly original and unique. I loved most how most of the songs made use of the in-progress set piece for Contini's latest, ninth, film.

As I mentioned, Fergie's song was my favorite - and she was surprisingly wonderful in this role of, I believe, a prostitute. Dame Judi Dench was, as always, perfect in her role and her song comes strongly in second, making use of the symbolism of Contini's younger self, and inner child.

The writing for this film was so engaging, drawing me in to need to know more about all these important people in his life, and how they've made him grow as a human...and the directing of that writing, the visualistic style was so well done, and very memorable.

Nine, I believe, should be recognized as a very generous, enjoyable film, and is a must-see for any fan of the genre, or even fans of any of the actors, for they all put forth great work.
