Never saw this coming! 'Nimona' is a spectacular triumph — a heartwarming story with unforgettable protagonists. While other big animated studios have taken small steps to address LGTBQ topics, Annapurna Pictures takes a giant leap with a marvelous inclusivity story that will become a queer classic.
Nimona and Ballister's ordeal represents the struggle of an entire community being bullied or pointed at all the time; their frustration and hiding reflect the failures of a system that has taught us since we were little that marginalizing or making fun of others because of what they are is ok.
This is the kind of movie that kids out there need to be watching; a beautiful way of showing them that they're not monsters because of not being like others. I will be mad if this doesn't get an Oscar nomination next year.
