Review of Nil by Mouth (1997) by Jezzy A — 19 Mar 2007
Now this was a fucking bundle of laughs. Not. Once you get past all the cockney geezer-isms, you've got a hard hitting, no punches pulled, strong, gritty movie that says more about generational abuse than any family counsellor could.
Apparently based on director Gary Oldman's own childhood experiences, the acting is outstanding, coming from a cast who aside from Ray Winstone, have largely cut their teeth in soaps and comedies.
Moving, unforgettable viewing.
