Review of Nightwatching (2007) by Greg N — 28 Oct 2009
It's running on so many cylanders that I think it found some new ones. Don't even get me started on how pretty the thing looks or the brilliance of the compositions. Martin Freeman is so perfect here.
Equal turns sleezy, righteous, cowardly, snobbish, and always dedicated. Greenaway makes some references to earlier work like The Draughtman's Contract that feels a bit self-congradulatory. But it's Peter Greenaway.
He's kinda earned the right.
