Review of Nightwatch (1997) by Adrian W — 20 Sep 2007
Not the Russian Vampire film, but a thriller with Ewan Mcgregor. Watched this before and watched it again last night. Its really good.
Its hard to describe without ruining it. But the point that makes it sweet and scary is the atmosphere. Mcgregor is looking for a new job and acquires one working as a security guard doing a night shift (hence the name) at a medical centre. Theres all sorts of scary/weird ship there. And its an old builiding. He has to do "rounds" every hour checking every room, including the morgue. Where bodies are laid on slabs with dangly pull switches above them. He asks why and is told "in case they wake up". "What?" "Don't worry it never happens." Now you are wondering what he is, when and why? Theres a murderer on the loose. Thats all i'll say as I will spoil it, but its a thriller, so there's twists and turns, some are perhaps obvious, but its still clever and scary. The ending is sweet!
Check it out.
