Review of Nights of Cabiria (1957) by Steve W — 25 Nov 2008
Seven years after "Flower's of St Francis" and four after I'Vitelloni", Fellini combines small bits from each, and really starts to get a grasp on his own style in "Nights of Cabiria".
While keeping a subtle and tender approach, the Italian maestro takes us into the world of Maria, an outspoken prostitute who seems to have a disregard for love. But, as we go deeper into the picture, it's evident that those who defy love are sometimes the most hopeless romantics around.
