Review of Nightmares in Red, White and Blue (2009) by Nathan E — 26 Apr 2012
This film solidified why I despise the modern horror genre. It is a place where weak minds, dissatisfied with how the world is, lash out and attack conventional wisdom...often with violent results. To hear these filmmakers lament about the "loss" of the counterculture of the 1960s - and thereby robbing them of their socialist utopia - is sad. They sounded like spoiled children.
While the historical information given is told well, the film definitely has a liberal bent to it, and goes out of its way to beat the viewer over the head with it.
Horror used to be smarter when in the capable hands of better directors like Hitchcock, who didn't need to show in order to shock. These modern hacks couldn't hold a candle to Hitch or his contemporaries.
