Review of Nightlife (1976) by Ben R — 18 Apr 2013

Wow!!!! what a mess! This started out as a somewhat ok made for cable late 80s Vampire romantic comedy. The only problem is that it was missing the horror and the comedy and felt like a very twisted half baked love story.

Normally those kind of movies are pretty good but not when they are just tediously boring.The film had some decent cinematography and a couple good scares here and there but for the most part it was kinda bland.

Ben Cross did a better job playing a Vampire on the early 90s failed attempt at a Dark Shadows reboot. This is for vampire completist's only or fans of badly made horror cable movies. This would have been a better episode of one of the many anthology shows that were out during late 80s.

.. such as Tales from the Crypt,Monsters,Tales from the darkside or Ray Bradburry theater. As a full length movie....it kinda sucks out loud, no pun intended. Another curious thing about this release was that there was another totally different horror comedy that came out this same year, with the exact same title.

The other Nightlife was a theatrical low budget horror comedy starring Scott Grimes from Critters 2, and that was a zombie horror comedy that was actually very good. Its a shame it was buried in the shuffle of the late 80s horror junk that got more attention.

So if you read this review go track down the other Nightlife and watch that because its a hell of alot more entertaining than this made for cable turd fest. My final thought on this movie is I wanted to kill that fucking annoying short,fat,mouthy, Mexcian, know it all maid.

After ten minutes of seeing her I wanted her character to die right off. You will hate her too... if you ever watch it and will really not love the fact that she's one of the 4 or 5 characters in this who gets more screen time than she deserves.
