Because of the key cast members backgrounds, critical opinion here tends to show up already biased, the end result being that Nighthawks gets written off without a second glance, and more's the pity.
Featuring Rutger Hauer playing, well, Rutger Hauer, and Stallone trying to outpiss Williams, the 1980s gets one of its best full on action "thrillers". The genre should look here to see how it can be done with style, charm, and plenty of unacknowledged self effacing moments.
