Review of Nighthawks (1981) by Mickaw90 . — 15 Nov 2010
It may not be the first Stallone film you may remember, hell, it probably isnt even in the top 20...but, Nighthawks is possibly one of the grittier and more interesting of his work during the 80s. And its not just because Stallone is sporting a mighty beard (well actually thats partly true).
Featuring a young Rutger Hauer and Billy Dee Williams fresh from Cloud City, there is a chemistry here that is pretty interesting. It falls into cliche several times, complete with chases, shoot outs and a disgruntled chief but there are a few moments were this feels like the realest work Stallone attempted post First Blood, plus its always good to see Lando in something.
Ultimately, there is very little in the way of substance, but its not a complete waste of your time either.
