There are plenty of thought-provoking thrills and intense moments throughout the movie, but what really cements this as an above-average thriller is the unrecognizable performance from Jake Gyllenhaal.
The direction may lack the heart that could have elevated this to a truly great film, but this is far better than most of its kind.
