Review of Nightcrawler (2014) by Jack C — 15 Apr 2015
Nightcrawler centers itself around the life of Lou Bloom, spectacularly played by Jake Gyllenhaal who has the drive and determination to be successful but struggles to find work in the surrounding area of Los Angeles.
It becomes apparent however that despite his ambition he can only scrape by. Ultimately Lou needs an opportunity to apply himself and he finds his chance through independent news reporting, on the streets of L.
A with Lou finding all manner of crime related incidents. With each new story that he covers the end result is to see a payday and expand. Overall the movie is masterfully crafted in depicting the violent nature of an underworld that comes alive at night that is definitely not safe.
