Review of Nightcrawler (2014) by Ken S — 06 Jun 2015
Jake Gyllenhal is really good as a sociopath freelance videographer, getting footage of crashes, fires, and murders to sell to local news stations. As someone who works in local news, I can't say it totally rang true to me, but from what I've read it is over the top but a little closer to how the business works in Los Angeles.
The movie isn't so much about the news though, but about the man capturing it, and as a character study it is quite good with a strong leading performance.
