* Gyllenhaal's performance as Louis Bloom is outstanding. We slowly see him become more psychotic and consumed by his obsession as the film progesses. The sacrifice of his partner shows just how consumed he has become.
* The film shows us how disconnected from the emotion of tragedy the corporate world of news can be. They are capable of completely twisting the truth to create their desired narrative.
